FOR THE CREATION OF AN INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM OF LAWYERS / BARRISTERS OF GENERAL INTEREST

APPEAL FROM PARIS

FOR THE CREATION OF AN INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM OF LAWYERS / BARRISTERS OF GENERAL INTEREST

We, lawyers, law clerks, jurists, legal practitioners and advocates of general interest, have learned about the work of the INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM of INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISTS (ICIJ) on the global medical device scandal denouncing the fatal ignorance of the control system for medical implants / devices ("Implant files").

Given the scale of the damage, the seriousness of the reported facts, the multiplicity of officials and the countries concerned, we are calling for the creation of an international consortium of lawyers and advocates for the victims of this industry.

This CONSORTIUM4JUSTICE (www.consortium4justice.org) is intended to bring together independent lawyers from lobbies wishing to share sensitive information and best practices in order to provide a proper and effective defence to as many victims as possible. It is part of the movement of cause lawyers and public interest lawyers of the Anglo-Saxon law while adapting it to the continental law practised in numerous countries.

To make justice accessible, in particular through collective action, restore the equality of arms, make law and procedures evolve towards greater processing speed while ensuring real efficiency, favour the emergence of international standards, make efficient an International Justice beyond Barriers and Borders, bring key issues to a democratic debate of high quality, unite the strengths of all who want to demonstrate an ideal of justice and equity.

We call on our French European colleagues, or even the whole world, to join us to form the consortium and decide on the first actions to follow.

For this purpose, we invite interested lawyers and legal practitioners to contact us to meet up in Paris at the beginning of the year 2019 at a venue to be confirmed. During this meeting, the group structure and guidelines will be specified.

As a wake-up call, the lawyers must speak up and take the necessary actions to remind the economic and political decision-makers of their responsibility, who must remain vigilant and never give up.

The ‘polluter pays’ principle must be extended to prevent damage to human health and protect the welfare of humanity before it is too late.
